Golden State Warriors 104, Orlando Magic 99: Three Takeaways
The Orlando Magic played with more spirit and fought their way back into the game. But it still ended in a loss as the Magic keep falling short.
The Orlando Magic showed the fight they had wanted to see. They erased a 15-point deficit to open the fourth quarter and took the lead with about four minutes to play.
Suddenly the team had some life. They got a string of stops. Franz Wagner got to the basket and scored at will. Cole Anthony picked up the slack as he slowed down and gave the Magic at least a two-player attack.
His floater put the Magic up by two and they suddenly had energy. Paolo Banchero said before the game that the team needed just one win to get themselves back on track. It seemed like they were on the precipice of taking that win.
Then the Warriors calmed down. They got a turnaround jumper from Andrew Wiggins in the paint. The Magic missed a late-shot-clock jumper and Kevon Looney hit a putback over Paolo Banchero to give the Warriors the lead back.
Draymond Green made it a four-point game on a tough runner and Moses Moody iced the game with a corner three to make it a five-point game with a minute to play.
The Magic lost 104-99 and were still asking themselves questions. Some very basic questions.
